No overthinking, no pressure, just two people genuinely excited to be married and to have all their favourite people in one place. From the very beginning, it was clear this day wasn’t about putting on a show, it was about celebrating something real. For both of them, the excitement centred around finally being married and sharing that moment with family and friends. For Steven, there was one moment he’d been holding onto all day, seeing Sam and their daughter Isla walking down the aisle. It’s always one of those moments that quietly hits harder than expected, and this one was no different. The ceremony itself reflected exactly who they are. Set outdoors with a calm, relaxed feel, everything was kept simple and intentional. No over-the-top styling, just a soft, chilled atmosphere that let the emotion of the day do the talking. It suited them perfectly. Their story is just as effortless. Sam knew from their very first date. There was a comfort there straight away, the kind that doesn’t need to be explained. Steven describes it as an instant connection, easy conversation, shared humour, and that feeling that this was something different. Over time, that only deepened, especially once they became parents and he saw Sam step into motherhood. That’s when it really clicked, she was it. As the day unfolded, it wasn’t one single moment that stood out, it was the feeling across the whole day. But if they had to choose, stepping into the reception and finally celebrating with everyone was a highlight. And then came their first dance. What started as just the two of them quickly turned into something even more meaningful when Isla joined them. One of those moments you can’t plan, but end up remembering forever. They walked down the aisle to *Can’t Help Falling in Love* (Kina Grannis version, sung by Coby Grant), which set the tone perfectly, soft, emotional, and timeless. When it came to choosing their vendors, it was a mix of recommendations and instinct. They followed their gut, choosing people whose work they genuinely loved, and it paid off. Everything came together seamlessly, and by their own words, the day exceeded every expectation. Nothing they would change, which says a lot. By the end of the night, it was all smiles (and very tired feet). That kind of happy where you almost can’t believe how smoothly everything went. Just pure joy, a full dance floor, and that quiet “we did it” feeling once it all settles. Their advice to other couples is simple but honest. Don’t get caught up in the small stuff, especially on the day itself. Let go a little and trust that the people around you will handle anything that comes up. And most importantly, slow down and take it all in. It goes quickly, faster than you expect. They both said there were moments they wish they’d soaked up more. One thing they were especially glad about was having both photo and video. Being able to go back and relive the day, not just through still moments but through movement and sound, is something they already don’t take for granted. Sam and Steven’s wedding was a reminder that it doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. I had the best time capturing their day—the laughs, the hugs, and all the in-between moments that made it so them. Megan from Megan Knox Celebrancy set the perfect tone with a ceremony that was warm, heartfelt, and full of personality. Wallflower Perth nailed the florals with a dreamy mix of soft textures and romantic blooms that tied everything together without trying too hard. The Pretty Parlour worked their magic on hair, keeping things fresh, modern, and totally effortless (even in the wind). Painted by Pia gave Louise a glow that somehow looked both flawless and like she wasn’t wearing makeup at all—witchcraft, honestly. Louise’s dress from Jane Hill Bridal was sleek, elegant, and fit like it was made just for her (because, well, it was). The couple’s invites and signage from Paperlust kept things classy and clean—just the right amount of detail to hint at the good times ahead. DJ Yems turned the reception into an all-out dance floor takeover—zero awkward gaps, just banger after banger. The relaxed, coastal-style set-up from Heart Strings Hire & Style gave the whole day a perfectly curated but totally chill vibe. Jack n Rose Music brought acoustic magic during the day, setting the mood and giving everyone the feels before the DJ took over.
